Firstly, we need to reach the island by crossing Pumicestone Passage.   Clive Brown has agreed to take 6 passengers at a time, in his 6.2 metre “tinny”, and he is willing to do 3 trips. We will leave from The Powerboat Club, Golden Beach.

OR you can paddle your own kayak and secure it on the other side.   High tide is 8.08 am.

When all the people are assembled on Bribie Island (including the ones that kayak across),  we will walk east to the ocean beach. We beach-walk south 5 kilometres. This might be slow because of the high tide.  We will be walking at the water's edge and many of us will be bare-footed.  At the old site of Fort Bribie, we will see the fascinating WWII ruins, (mostly concrete).   Perhaps we will have a swim, and then have lunch under shady trees.  We return the way we came and the tide will be 3/4 out.

Bring plenty of water, a good hat that stays put in the wind, & sun protection.  Heavy bushwalking boots not needed.

Total walk distance: 12km approx.
