This hike has been postponed due to excessive rainfall.

A cracker of a trail with beautiful scenery and wildlife along the way. The walk is a section of the Hinterland Great Walk and we begin by following a shaded firetrail before veering off and following a foot trail down to Baxter Falls, where we cross a suspension bridge before heading up the trail on other side to a ridge line and then onwards to Mapleton Falls Lookout. Most of the walk is in dappled light and shaded except for a short section where we walk along the Obi Obi Rd footpath to reach Mapleton Falls. Although we descend to and ascend from Baxter Falls; the inclines are gradual along a zig zagging trail. Chance for a swim at Baxter Falls on the return journey. Total length 14 km with an elevation gain of 588m. Should take around 5hrs to complete including morning tea and rest breaks. If its a hot day then carry some extra water.

Please note: PARKING IS LIMITED. If you are able to carpool with another person it may be a good idea.

There are no toilets at the carpark. There is ONE composting toilet at the Flaxton Walkers Camp roughly 15 minutes inot the walk and then portable toilets at the half way point at Mapleton Falls.

  • Appropriate clothing to suit conditions
