A moderate degree of fitness and the ability to negotiate rocky sections is needed, but we will take our time to enjoy the views with a morning tea/brunch stop at the two main lookouts. Bring morning tea, lunch and 2L water. The walk is a total of approx 10km with some scrambling and rocky sections along the Yul Yan Man section and an elevation gain and loss of 265m. We start from the trail head car park next to Beerburrum State School and walk up and along the Yul Yan Man track (Kabi Kabi language - to walk slowly). For the next 3.5 kms we will follow a rocky trail and a bit of scrambling (no exposure). Throughout this portion of the walk there are stunning views of the Glasshouse Mountains with a couple of look-outs where we will have snack/lunch stops and take time to enjoy the view. Once at the end of Yul Yan Man we join the Trachyte circuit and return via the Soldiers Settlers Track which is a marked and easy bush trail back to the car park. This walk will be postponed if conditions are wet, as the Yul Yan Man section will be slippery.

What to bring:

  • Morning tea and lunch
  • Sufficient water (minimum 2L)
  • Appropriate clothes and walking boots/shoes
  • Whistle
