The club has received an invitation from Qld National Parks and Wildlife to assist with maintenance of the Great Walk.

Initially we will do 1-2 days per month as a trial to guage interest by club members.

Bring morning tea and lunch appropriate clothing/footware for trail walking.Expect to walk 3-4 easy kilometres

This day will be light trimming where vegetation has overgrown the track in places,remove small branches which may have fallen on the track,a Ranger will be in attendance to carry out any work requiring a chain saw.Learn mapping techniques to locate infrastructure.

As a volunteer, you can expect to:
•    make connections with like-minded people and local QPWS Rangers,
•    gain hands-on experience with safe work methods and environmental management techniques,
•    learn about the different ecosystems and identify native and invasive species that exist along the Great Walk, and
•    enjoy being active outdoors and feel good about helping the environment.
 

The department will:
 Provide relevant training to develop the skills necessary to undertake tasks competently.
 Provide work health and safety training to enable volunteers to undertake their role safely.
